That being the case Ian your round looks to be a pretty good one!! only because it finishes with 2 par 5's BUT - it is a lovely course actually enjoyed the round as will you Bob - "quote it's not about the score it's about the experience" - if you and I were worried about the scores we would be one of those other societies. Keep the conditions tuff mate that's what makes it fun.

ROUND 1A frustrating round with so many putts burning the edge - then 2 badly played holes on the 8th and 9th suckered me. Got the shots back on #12 and #13 with both approaches coming to rest 2 feet from the pins - back on track. Messed up on #15 but 2 birds on the par 5's at the end meant an acceptable opening score. Not sure if I've ever played this course before - but it's certainly worthy of hosting a US Open, that's for sure! It's going to be a challenging week, but an enjoyable one I think!
You're right Ian, it is about the experience, and I think we're in for a treat this week my friend!!

OMG the course ate me up and spit out little pieces BUT the scenery is great - cart girl stopped on the 3rd hole with a low cut blouse and shorty shorts - and my game went into the tank Not sure if I am weird in my old age but actually enjoyed a round where I shot +6

ROUND 2I know exactly what you mean!!
What a difference a day makes!! The first 7 holes were a dream - approaches good and putts dropping!! Then reality kicked in. The 8th and 9th chewed me up again, but even though I went from -5 to -2 I was very happy. Then I messed up the 10th, another shot went at the 12th, but I rallied with birds on #13 and the monster 14th. Parred #15 and, with 2 par 5's to come I was thinking of a -4 or even a -5 round, but it wasn't to be. A bogey on #16 was followed by a double on #17. That's ok I thought, the 18th is reachable in 2 so I should get a birdie at least. Then I saw the pin position - and remembered the nightmares it caused when I played here before. In the end I was happy with just a bogey - I know it could have been so much worse. Pin 4 is now out of the way so the last 2 rounds should be easier...

ROUND 3When I saw Ian's score I thought "he's gone and done it again!!". But actually the conditions were a lot easier than I foresaw. Like Ian, I managed a bogey-free round, which was very satisfying. Drives, approaches and putts were all good today - a bit of a rarity, and it could have been even better. Highlight was a 78-yard pitch-in on the 11th for eagle. Looking good for me now - barring any hiccups...

HAHA thanks Ian. The most satisfying holes are the par 4's that are not reachable in 2 - but you still manage to par them. I think Round 4 will be different though!!

ROUND 4Grabbed an early birdie on #2 but didn't manage another until the 13th, and that was courtesy of a chip-in. Had to make a lot of missable par putts, the best of which was a 30-footer on #16. Negotiated the dangerous pin on #18 to complete another bogey-free round - very pleasing!
