ROUND 1

Remembered this course after a few holes, and how awkward it can be. Played pretty solidly and went up a gear on the last few holes - the eagle was particularly satisfying. Looked as if Ian was gonna post a good round too, but I think he must have had a disaster on #18...

Struggled with the greens in this round. It seemed as though Ian was going to overtake me, but an unexpected bird on the par 3 14th, which I nearly aced, and my third eagle of the week on #17 kept me in the lead. Round 4 should be a blast...

Never really got into any trouble, and had a real boost on #9 when I chipped in for eagle. A bird on #10 gave me a 2-stroke buffer - but I made a hash of the par 5 16th and the gap reduced to 1 shot. Made a good 6-footer for par on #17, then played #18 perfectly to stroke in another bird and claim the win.
