Round 1 Steady start then a snot spoilt the front 9. back 9 not as straight forward i totally wiffed a shot on hole 13 fired back with 2 birds then from nowhere very fast off the tee, a fast with second shot then slow onto green, then low and behold a shooter putt for a double bogey. Nearly aced the next hole. Reasonable round under the conditions but cannot help feeling i should have done better Onwards.  |

ROUND 1Not my favourite conditions but coped pretty well. Missed a few putts that I should have holed, but also made a couple of good ones. One errant drive cost me on #13, and my approaches could have been more accurate, but on the whole a satisfactory start to the week...

Round 2 Good start then missed a few makeable putts which got me in a par slump but finished front side with a tweet. Back 9 started ok but a stupid chip on par 3 gave me a snot and spoilt a clean card. There is a fault on one hole cannot remember which one but was in middle of fairway and it said Heavy rough, and it reacted like heavy rough too. Another round where i feel i let myself down but will take the score.  |

ROUND 2A strange, but immensely enjoyable round! Great start on #1, messed up #2, then a purple patch of 6 birds in 7 holes which included a chip-in and a couple of very good putts. But the back 9 was totally different. I dried up completely and had to make at least a couple of good saves to avoid any more bogeys. Then on #17 I chipped in again! I think this is a quality course and the next 2 rounds should be fun...

ROUND 3Played well enough but had 3 or 4 putts that should have dropped but didn't - and mugged on #18 when the wind just didn't seem to affect my 3-wood approach at all and a bogey ensued. Just playing for a top 3 in the final round...

ROUND 4 An indifferent front nine, apart from an eagle on #3. Then I realised I could beat Les and managed to find a couple of extra gears. Another eagle on #11 and some good birdies helped to produce my best round of the week. A good choice of course I think, even if we did take it apart!!!
