Round 1This is going to be a traumatic week. Made a reasonable start but then got hit by a triple-whammy, dropping shots on 3 holes. Fought back with 4 birds on the next 5 holes, which included an amazing putt on #12 which I saved, and then it was a case of hanging on. Came so close to holing my approach to #18 but had to settle for a birdie. Didn't play the par 3's at all well, but there were some stinkers of hole positions today. The next 3 rounds will be very interesting - and a stiff challenge!!

Round 1 Absolute rubbish, not a good time to get shooters on the VF greens, very difficult to putt on. Thats all, onwards.  |

Round 2 Game of 2 halves, poor start especially on hole 6, i holed a 30 footer for my 7th putt and a 9, abysmal front 9, back 9 came to life when i holed out for eagle on 11, then 5 birds followed. Front 9 +6 back 9 -7, when alls said and done its not my favourite or my computers favourite course, roll on next week.  |

Round 2Solid enough start, then an underhit birdie putt cost me a shot on #6, and worse followed on #8 where a very difficult pin and poor putting cost me 2 more shots. Managed a clean back nine but after notching up a couple of birdies I couldn't sink anything. Certainly challenging greens...

Round 3 My clean card was dashed on the first hole but played steady golf from then on until 16th, there is times this game just defies physics. Disappointing finish. Maybe it about time chipping on greens carried a 2 stroke penalty for each one.  |

Round 4Shaky start but soon settled down. Played well and maybe should have scored better. Annoying bogey on #18 but have to be pleased with my score in these conditions...

rd 4 - happy with my tournament considering - when you give up 20 strokes to the field - finishing gross -19 very happy, tough course and very tough conditions - truly enjoyed it, it was a true test. On to the next.  |

Round 4 Thank goodness that is over, not my favourite course by a mile, and that moderate green speed is just awful, the worst on the game, i think it has a mixture of all speeds in it. Onwards to next week. PS The old coot did well!!!   |

Round 4A demotivated and meaningless round really, it briefly sprang into life when I eagled the 10th but, apart from that, my play was pretty nondescript. Good bird on #18 to sneak under par, I enjoyed the course and the challenge. Now I'm striking the ball as well as I ever have I'm almost looking forward to each tourney now...
