Round 1Fairly benign conditions faced the players on the opening day, somewhat unusual for Pebble Beach, but who could take advantage? Certainly not Les Souter, whose game appears to have fallen apart and whose 76 was a little soul-destroying for him. Three birdies in the final four holes salvaged a 70 for Bob Fletcher who will have to improve his putting if he is to be a contender this week. Randy Grant's 68 was pretty solid, and even though he struggled to find the pins he still carded an eagle on the 2nd and dropped only one shot, that occurring on the 8th. Ian McKinley looks as if he means business this week - dropped shots on #12 and #13 pegged him back after a super front nine, and an eagle finish on #18 helped him post a fine 67 to sit one stroke off the lead.

Round 2High wind and plenty of rain were on the menu today, making things potentially difficult. As it turned out, all the guests scored very well - Les Souter looked a completely different player compared to yesterday and his stunning 64 was the round of the day. A bogey on #13 was the only dropped shot on Bob Fletcher's card, and he looks set for another good finish. Ian McKinley's second 67 of the week included two eagles, on #2 and #18, and only one bogey. Ian has second place all to himself but trails our new leader by five strokes. Hans Kunok opened up with a super 64 yesterday and a 65 today really puts pressure on the chasing pack...

Round 3There were perfect conditions for low scoring today, and the guests took full advantage to occupy the top four positions come the end of the day. Les Souter eagled #2 and #6 but had a lone bogey on #10. However he still managed a dazzling 61 to carve out a 5-stroke gap between himself and 5th place. Ian McKinley posted a bogey-free 65 and was 2 shots clear of Les and very much in contention, but he is now 4 adrift of the co-leaders. Hans Kunok's 66 was his worst round so far, and it allowed Bob Fletcher to join him in the top spot after Bob registered a career-best, and stunning, round of 59. Bob also eagled #2 and #6 but kept a clean card, and everything is set for a thrilling finale in the final round...
