Round 1Conditions were almost perfect for the opening round - a gentle breeze and greens that were a little receptive and not too fast. Ian McKinley couldn't wait to get back to his hotel after carding a demoralising 79, ending his interest in this event prematurely, while Randy Grant managed only one birdie in his unsatisfactory 74. Even Charles Schwab Cup points leader Les Souter struggled, his level par 72 not being the start he was seeking. Hans Kunok played well for his 68, placing him a single stroke behind the three co-leaders at the close of play. They are pro Larry Mize, and guests Jared Kingsley and Bob Fletcher. Jared, coming back from a week's absence through illness, looked a little shaky on the 1st, which he bogeyed, but then reeled off a string of birds and even notched up an eagle on the intimidating 8th. Bob began well, had a dip in the middle of his round where he bogeyed three in a row, then came back strong with three late birds to match Jared and Larry's 67's.

There will be no more leaderboards for this week's tourney as I'm going on holiday tomorrow and won't be taking my laptop!!
The final leaderboard for this week's Boeing Classic, and next week's Dick's Sporting Goods Open, should be published here on Monday 27th March, the day after we return.
All conditions have been entered for next week and the week after, so good luck!! I'm off for a break!!
