The San Diego Open has been won by HANS KUNOK!! While greats Jack Nicklaus and Tony Jacklin struggled in the final round, Hans breezed past them to capture the title courtesy of a fine 66 to finish four strokes clear of Jacklin and Pete Brown. Brown and Nicklaus recorded the best rounds of the event, a couple of 65's, Nicklaus in the opening round and Brown in the closing round. Our other 'guest' players suffered mixed fortunes - Bob Fletcher finished in a respectable tie for 19th place, while everyone else ended the week in the lower reaches of the leaderboard and will, no doubt, be glad to move on to the next tournament. This is our fourth different event winner in as many tourneys - will there be a fifth at Lahontan...?!    |
