Round 1A strong breeze didn't make this beautiful, but deceptively dangerous, Hoback Range course any easier today. Les Souter's sterling efforts last week appeared to have taken a heavy toll as he looked a tad jaded on his way to an unsatisfactory 74. Bob Fletcher salvaged his round with three late birdies and he finished with a level par 72, while Ian McKinley didn't have things all his own way during his respectable 71. That was also Randy Grant's score, aided by a fortuitous eagle 2 on the 4th and another, more orthodox, eagle on the 18th. The most impressive guest performance came from Jared Kingsley who seems to be acclimatising very quickly to life on this tour. Jared's fine 68 placed him two shots behind the opening day leaders and it looks like another intriguing week is in store for us...

Round 3There was still no more than a gentle breeze blowing, and the greens were a tad slower than yesterday, so the potential for low scoring was present. Every guest posted their best scores of the tourney so far, although Bob Fletcher's 70, including two water balls, didn't move him further up the leaderboard. Randy Grant gave himself every chance of gaining some Charles Schwab Cup points by shooting a very welcome 68, while Jared Kingsley's great 66 saw him overtake Randy in the race for a decent finish. The performance of the day came from Ian McKinley whose scintillating 65 shot him to the top of the leaderboard with a lead of two strokes going into the final round. Can Ian register his second win of the season?

Final RoundThe high winds returned, bringing rain with them which, in turn, softened and slowed up the greens considerably. Having said that, the conditions worked in the players' favour as every guest posted a sub-70 round. Les Souter had had a torrid time in the first half of the event, but today he looked to have found something close to his A-game and a 68 was the result. A solitary bogey spoilt Bob Fletcher's card, and missing a few makeable putts had him wondering what might have been instead of a still praiseworthy 65, the best round of the final day. Randy Grant shot his second successive 68 to finish in a creditable tie for 12th spot but, again, he missed out on some Charles Schwab Cup points by one shot - just as he'd done in the Regios Traditions major two weeks ago. Jared Kingsley registered his best finish to date after shooting his second successive 66 of the tourney, enough to claim a share of 3rd place and enhancing his reputation. After a rather average opening round Ian McKinley found another couple of gears and had carved out a two-shot lead going into today. He stuck to his attacking brand of golf and it paid off again, his second 66 of the week increasing his lead over the rest of the field to five shots, a very convincing winning margin. So Ian wins his second tourney of the season, adding to the Allianz Championship he won in November and, on this form, only a brave, or foolish, man would bet against him winning in the third Major of the season next week!
