I understand - when I looked last night for Bob I read the quote that I stated - I understand what they have done in the past - and they have started on hole 17 before as you know - I just did not want you to blame Bob or the tour - I have no issue standing in front of the bullet.
And as you know I have been club captain before and we have drawn from the hat because we did not have large crowds to please.

Ian every club and County have their own rules for play offs and they are set in stone, my club play holes 1,2 and 3 then sudden death if still tied, this has been the case for the 50 years ive been a member there, Durham County however play sudden death from hole 1, ive never known in my golfing years for it to be drawn from a hat.

If you like I can send you the air fare and you can come over and kick my ass - because there is not much left to beat on

No mate nothing is worth that, yes we all make mistakes hell ive made thousands in my life, and i wish you well rather than beat up on you.

And you are correct we are trying our best to please everyone and follow as close as we can - I have never been afraid to admit a mistake - because you know what if you never make a decision you will never make a mistake  and guess what I have made a ton.

I looked it up before I did it and this is what caught my eye "Which holes are used? The PGA of America makes that call, and it might differ from year to year depending on the layout of the golf course."

Is our handicap correct - answer NO - not according to PGA
Is our course set up correct  - answer NO - not according to tour
Is our course Par correct - answer NO - not according to past tour
We do what we can too make it the best we can.

I understand this and agree its what we need to do to try make scores acceptable for the game, my point is why was the play off format changed from what we have always done? 

so short answer im sorry if you got screwed on this one BUT do not blame Bob or the Tour.

Ian, lets put you in my position, you have played the best you have played in a while, then 2 scores are plucked from the sky and you end up in a tie, so a playoff is required, thats fine, however goalposts are moved and the playoff format is changed from past playoffs on this site and hole 6 is chosen as the playoff hole, the only hole you coincidentally bogeyed in that round. Would you think you have been screwed?

Wow, so sorry that some angst caused within the game. Les you are too good to not win, and maybe this week.
Like you, I was “treated” slightly unfairly by the fact we had a par 73 tour recently, and it cost us 4 shots against the pros.👎 I lost out by 1 stroke so would have won if par 72 had been used. Bob explained and that was the end of the matter for that tournament.👍

In the same event both myself and Ian were edged out of the points thru the same thing, i accepted that made the point and Bob has adjusted that for future events all good, my only beef is the fact the play off goalposts were moved that this site has used  since its beginning, without notification and notice that it was to change to its members 


I think the fact we get quite “excited” like in real golf, justifies the hard work, both Bob and Ian put into the club and tournaments, to make it both realistic…..and very challenging 😲and even stressful……😵‍💫🫣😱😤

Yes agreed ive never doubted the hard work and effort Bob and Ian put into the site, and my site before that ( The Old Goats ) and i do appreciate it. Bob knows what its like to have the goalposts moved on you, as it happened to him on a previous site, thats why I'm very surprised and annoyed it happened here.

My +8 shot H/C feels real tough compared to some others, but that is how it is done. (I know Ian and Bob are looking at a suggestion to assess new members using their “official TGC” H/C integration into the starting “Tour Playing H/C) as new members can get an advantage (as I think I may have done in the first comp as a guest)

Yes i saw your proposal on another thread which was a good idea in my opinion.

I still enjoy the “standard” game play, as in Local Golf Clubs, that I run, and you play as well.
