 Tucson Round 3…..A tale of two “9”s Started badly with a bogie on Par 5 first hole. Not played that well so far….I think even par for 3 rounds🥴 Very little wind, but the very fast and firm greens gave me a quick “wake up” Started to improve then, with a little group of birdies. Back 9 went very well, with 8 birdies to give me a 61…..(67 net) No doubt round 4 will be a real tough set up……”Bob’s revenge”🤣” I am sure you are enjoying your well earned break Bob🥳👍 Are you watching any football? ⚽️ Political (and friendly “correctness” in the club) prevent me saying which results pleased me most😉🥳 Mel |

 Round 4 started with an Eagle which was a great bonus as hole 1 not been too good for me so far. Front 9 continued with several welcome birdies for my best front 9 at Tucson -8 (-5 net) Back 9 alternative pars and birdies, to give me a final score -13(-7 net) Very pleased as I expected the final round to be the toughest. Bob must have felt kind before his holiday😇😂 Mel I’m hoping for a good overall tournament, and some more points🏌️♂️🤔😃 |

Thanks Mel, really loved Taormina in Sicily!! Might even go back there when it's a little warmer (was only roughly 16-18C so we were quite lucky). Yup, watched quite a bit of footie courtesy of Rai TV - just turned the sound off cos didn't have a clue what the Italian commentators were gabbling on about LOL.
As far as England are concerned I'm torn. I don't do political correctness so here goes!! Hate the England players for 'taking the knee'. I hate Southgate because he should never have been appointed to the job in the first place, having achieved nothing as a manager and for being tactically questionable. On the other hand, it's difficult because I'm English and always want them to do well - with the right manager and right players.
I won't be watching the Senegal game live, I'll check out the highlights later. Although I see Southgate is already preparing for a penalty shoot-out, that's how confident he is LOL.
Right, now to get my final 3 rounds in at Tucson...

Round 2 - After 5 days away from my clubs I'm not too unhappy with this round. Started well, sinking a good birdie putt on #1, then #9 through #11 my brain fogged up. Got back to par and it'll be interesting to see what happens in the final two rounds...  |

round 3 and 4 - got myself behind this week and had to play these two rounds back-to-back and my old shaky hands just can't handle it, my old issue the slow top showed up in round 4 Oh well onward -   |

Hi Bob, Glad you are back safely, and you had a great time
I guess your views on England may be a bit harsh for many supporters, although some never forgave Southgate for missing the crucial penalty back in the day. I have mixed and mostly negative views about Premier League players of any nationality....Over-paid, over-praised and, although I enjoy watching football (Championship level best), I prefer Rugby Super League (Leeds Rhinos) My unspoken comments were related to Germany being knocked out (but hoped Hans wouldn't feel picked on LOL) Also quite pleased Belgium (overhyped)and a couple of others knocked out. France or Brazil still look favourites.
Good luck with your final 2 rounds, tough when you are away, and have to catch up.

Yes Mel, Germany and Belgium going home is very good for England - but the France game will be a true test of Southgate's team and his tactical 'nouse', a completely different challenge to that set by Senegal. I might even watch it LOL. Round 3An under-par round on those speedy greens? I'll take that every time, even with mixed fortunes on the putting surfaces. One round to go...  |

Round 4 - Rushed this one, just wanted to finish the tourney. A few birdies, too many careless bogeys, but another round NOT over par. Very nice course, enjoyed it, but looking at some of our scores I should have ramped up the wind a bit...

Well done Bob, for the competition and getting your 4 rounds in with Sicily still in your mind, no doubt…….now don’t get carried away with setting harder winds etc in the next comp. The courses, with handicaps are tough enough. I will be interested to see what the “pros” scored when you catch up.

PS Ian had a great weekend win at Albany (Local Golf Clubs comp) Very strong leaderboard ( I ran out of time on a very hectic Sunday, with granddaughter’s birthday coming up, and video chats with my sister in Australia…her 75th birthday amongst other demands )
Ian beat Ginner by 1 stroke. I would not have challenged their scores even if I had managed to finish.
I hope to at least get some CS points from Tucson.

Thanks Mel, it all worked out pretty well in the end. I must have played at least a few holes at Ironfall 2 but don't remember anything about it at all - I just hope the conds set produce scores that are on the same level as the pro's!!
Shortly I will be posting an updated Charles Schwab Cup table - I think you'll enjoy that one Mel LOL...
