I have been doing more course design work than playing the past several weeks. Because designing involves a lot of playtesting, and because I am designing in PGA2K21, it changed my swing timing pretty drastically. My TGC 2019 swing has suffered quite a bit. That's why I have not been playing here. It's too hard for me to go back and forth between TGC 2019 and PGA2K21.
I have been practicing at the range in PGA2K21 with the Legend swing, and I have played a few rounds in the Legends society run by Simchars1968, who was playing Old Goats with us when I first got involved with TGC 2019.
I got in the groove with my driver tonight on the range (I hit a few bad shots before this, but then I went on a run).
And here is an 18-hole flyer on a Beta course I have released in PGA2K21. I'm working on the planting now and should publish the final version in the next week or so.

Great work, Charlie. I bought the 2k21 game, but couldn’t get on with it so stick to 2019, which I enjoy. I used to play WGT with a group of friends from all over the world, but rather like Bob and Ian found people fall out, especially when we Skyped in “Skypeople” club and pro-boards clubhouse. Also WGT wanted to take too much money in balls and clubs. I then tried “Perfect Golf” and moved on to The Golf Club. Links was another excellent game, ahead of it’s time with comps against the pros. It could have done really well if kept going. I still enjoy real golf and hope to restart in the new year after some health issues and surgery. Keep up your good work, Mel

Thanks, Mel. I have been designing and playing since Jack Nicklaus 6 Golden Bear Challenge was released back in the nineties; I'm working on a group design right now in this old game over at PGA 2000 Golf Sim Clubhouse with about 13 other designers. We are trying to breathe some new life back into this game. There is also an Oldtimers' League at that website for those who still like to play this game. I have played a few rounds there, but life has gotten in the way lately.
I also played tournament/society golf in the TW series from EA Sports (mostly 2008), Links, Perfect Golf, TGC 19, PGA 2K21, and now PGA 2K23 (but less than an hour in this last one). I have designed courses in all but the TW series and Links. I dabbled with PGA 2000 Championship Golf, but never got fully immersed into it.
Bob and Ian are doing a real service here for the players who still enjoy TGC 19. I will try to join in some tournaments before too long, but dealing with some issues of my own that are taking a lot of my time at the moment.

Thanks Charlie for your update. I once tried to copy my own golf club, Greetham Valley in Rutland using I think an early version of Perfect Golf, or TGC 1/2 but ran out of patience trying to get it right, when I couldn’t see how to use Google Earth to start the layout. I presume Google Earth is used for copying real courses? As you say, life gets in the way, and these games are fun when time allows. I also used the WIi with TW Golf many years ago, when you could play against others on line. That was fun but strangely, swinging the “plastic short club” controller with no resistance started to strain muscles, so stopped as real golf was enough, and more importantly didn’t cause problems. All good fun, especially as we get older, even then time constraints…..mostly family😳🫣🤗🤣 and old age issues can be a priority. Cheers Mel

Cheers Mel Most real courses for TGC 2019 are created using LIDAR data that can be accessed online. The basic process is outlined here: Creating LIDAR CoursesI have never attempted this. I find just learning how to use the design program challenging enough.
