Round 1 - Almost a complete absence of wind and sluggish greens went to produce a chance to get off to a good start to the event. Bob Fletcher was hitting the ball well enough, he just had a bad day with the flat stick, and he was visibly disappointed with his level par 71. Meanwhile, Ian McKinley and Les Souter took advantage of the benign conditions to shoot a brace of 66's, setting them up nicely for the rest of the tourney...

Round 2 - Breezier conditions and quicker greens were in store for this round. In the opening round Bob Fletcher hardly holed any putts - today it was Ian McKinley who struggled on the greens and a frustrating 72 was the result. Bob, however, enjoyed a rare good round with the putter and a bogey-free 66 lifted him into a tie for 7th and well-positioned to make a weekend charge. In spite of carding four bogeys Les Souter fired the best round of the day, a simmering 65, and that was thanks to a bagful of birdies on the back nine. Les now leads the field but can he control his temperament over the weekend and claim the win...?!

Round 3 - High winds provided the main obstacle for good scoring today but the greens were a little slower than in the previous round. Overnight leader Les Souter had all kinds of exasperating problems and an implosion on the back nine saw him drop seven shots. His final score of 77 dropped him down into a share of 9th spot, six behind the new leader, and a victory now looks very unlikely. Ian McKinley shot his second successive 72 to remain in mid-leaderboard, but Bob Fletcher made a threatening move by firing a fine 67, leaving him just two shots off the pace. The final round could be a nail-biter...

Round 4 - No wind and fast greens were an invitation to low scoring. Ian McKinley shot a 70 to finish in a tie for 15th with, amongst others, Bob Fletcher. Bob started the day only two strokes behind the leader and was confident of claiming the win but, sadly, his game completely deserted him and he could only post a 76, with not one single birdie on his card. Les Souter looked dead and buried after a terrible third round, but he came back fighting today to post a sublime 64, the best round of the event, and a score that saw him miss out on a play-off by one shot. The winner was John Huston who came from four strokes back to fire a 65 to finish one stroke ahead of Les.
