Watch the Pin on 16 - its a nightmare - and greens do not break as much as they look - be careful- don't pay any attention to my double on 15 - Had a very fast and was fooked. 2019 is turning into WGT all of a sudden distances change (Les had mentioned this and I just experienced it) - If I saw this happen to me playing outside I would have broken 7 clubs - any single digit handicap worth his salt would never put up with this they would do what we call a mid round fix - but with this game you are screwed.

Round 1 - It's amazing what a difference it makes when you have the right mindset. My handicap down to zero, and faced with a course that I remembered liking a lot, I took one shot at a time and enjoyed every hole. I even made countless missable par putts. Had a great start on #1 when my approach left a 2-foot tap-in. Then I had to stay very patient, going on a 14-hole par run. I heeded Ian's warning about the pin on #16, and was able to strike my bending birdie putt with the perfect weight. Another laser approach on #17 was rewarded and finally a solid bird on #18 to end a rare 'clean' 18 holes and very satisfying experience. Looking forward to the next round...

I have lost a lot of my motor skills, not sure I can continue much longer with this game - it takes coordination that I have lost - I am going to finish this one as quick as I can and take a break - I built the new banner that you see and it took me two days that I normally would do in an hour - so sad this crap

So very sorry to hear that Ian. I know you'd love to be out on a real golf course somewhere but because that's not possible this is the next best thing. It's downright cruel to start depriving you of this pleasure as well. Hang in there brother, if anyone can fight the thing it's you buddy!! Round 2 - All was good after 5 holes. I'd made a very good putt for a birdie on #4 and visions of another 68 were beginning to form in my mind. Then my unpredictable putting stroke raised it's ugly head and I bogeyed #6 - but even worse was to come. I 4-putted #7 after which my driving became a bit erratic. Messed up #12 for another double, then suddenly started to apply myself. Three birds coming in prevented a complete disaster but it was still disappointing...

Round 3 - I had an absolute nightmare, I just cannot putt on Very Fast greens!!! I wasn't going to post my card, but on #18 I hit the best shot of my season!! A 9-iron second to the par 5 which stopped rolling one foot from the cup! Oh well, attention now turns to St Andrews next week...

Round 4 - Thought the worst when I bogeyed #1, but everything was ok after that, although I did miss my quota of birdie putts as usual. I even found water on #18 but still saved par, so I suppose I ended the week on a kind of high. Onward to St Andys...
