Round 1 - Not a very exciting course, a lot of long, straight par 4's, but it is what it is and will be a good challenge this week. A satisfying 'clean' round, I putted with authority for a change but again narrowly missed a few birdie chances. Only hit one loose drive, that was on the monster 16th, but recovered to card a par without ever touching the fairway LOL. A solid start, hopefully I can build on it...

Round 1 Unable to keep a clean card again but plenty of tweeters and an Ace on hole 7 made up for the snot.

Round 2 That moderate speed green is the most unpredictable speed in this game, one hole its like slow the next its fast, to many missed putts, 3 putts and 5 putted hole 11. Only highlight of round on this boring course is my second Ace this week on hole 12.

Round 2 - Performed a minor miracle to save par on #1 and knew this was not going to be straightforward. Missed a great birdie chance on #3, then sank a super putt for bird on #4. Another bird followed on #6, then made a mess of the 8th. Struggled with my timing but hung in there. Clattered the pin from 200 yards on #9 - good thing as my ball was headed 30 yards over the green. Under par at the turn, so far so good. Good bird on #10, and rediscovered my timing off the tee - it makes a big difference when you can keep finding fairways. Bagged another bird on #14 after a super approach, then an even better approach on #17 left a 7-inch tap-in. Very happy with my play, but there are bigger tests to come...

Round 3 - Expected my bubble to burst in this round, but I started off on fire with three birds in the first four holes. Settled down into a run of pars until the 12th, when my par putt ran out of steam right by the cup. More pars followed and then a huge error on #18 with my approach where I decided, for some strange reason, to play a punch shot. It came up short and I failed to get up and down. A disappointing finish but I'm still in with a chance it looks like...

Round 4 - I was going along quite nicely, began with a string of pars and then a birdie on the 8th. Then I had something which is very rare for me - a Very Slow on my approach, sending my ball 60 yards to the right of the pin, and a double-bogey followed. Angry isn't the word! Had to start going for the pins instead of the greens, and birdied #10. Messed up #12 and I knew my mindset had gone. Grabbed an excellent bird on #14, then had a horrible double on #15, and that put paid to any faint chance I had of a win. Enjoyed the week, played better than usual, I just have to try to maintain this form...
