Round 2 - The wind increased in intensity and that, as well as very fast greens, will make today's round very difficult, so survival could be the name of the game. Randy Grant was disappointed with his putting today and, although he registered five birdies, they were more than offset by dropped shots on seven holes and an agonising 75 was the result. Ian McKinley was able to boast a clean back nine, but the damage had already been done on the front, his eventual 77 seeing him slide a long way down the leaderboard. Bob Fletcher also managed to bag five birdies, the most impressive coming on the toughest hole on the course, the monster par 4 16th, and he was overjoyed with his fighting 71 that left him tied 16th at halfway. Overnight leader Les Souter made a very shaky start when he dropped four strokes in the first six holes and he never really recovered, in spite of also carding five birdies later on. A final score of 74 had him in a share of 8th, but six strokes behind the new leader. And that is Tiger Woods, whose fine 67 gives him every chance of adding to his list of Major victories...

Round 3 - The wind relented a little today but the greens were still quick, and good scoring was very possible. Randy Grant enjoyed his best round of the week, a 67, that included only one dropped shot. A putting hiccup was to blame but he has now moved up to a respectable mid-leaderboard position and could earn a nice pay-day with another good round tomorrow. One stroke ahead of Randy is Ian McKinley after he fired his second 68 of the event which included no bogeys and a super eagle on the 18th. A further shot in front of Ian is Les Souter who appears to have had a traumatic round, eventually carding a less than impressive 73. Les had a dream start, birdying three of the first five holes, but then it all went inexplicably wrong. Until the 18th that is, where Les also managed to grab an elusive eagle, but by then the damage had been done. Bob Fletcher's 69 was his best effort of the tourney so far, only spoiled by a solitary bogey on the par 3 14th. All parts of Bob's game were unusually solid, but he did miss several birdie putts which he is already regretting. Overnight leader Tiger Woods maintained his one-shot lead by shooting a 70 today, but there are still a number of players who could deny Tiger another Major victory...

Round 4 - The blustery winds returned, bringing with them rain which rendered the greens quite slow but a little more receptive. First round leader Les Souter completed his fall from grace with a suffering 75, the icing on his horrible-tasting cake being a double-bogey on the 18th. Randy Grant had a great start and finish to his golfing sandwich of a round, birdying the first two holes and getting an eagle on the 18th, but the filling in between was not to his liking, although a 71 was still a creditable score in the conditions. Ian McKinley performed admirably, his solitary bogey coming on the 4th hole, and he would be pleased with his eventual 70. Ian finished tied 27th with Bob Fletcher whose 73 was his worst round of the week, and was again mainly due to woeful putting but also a lack of timing towards the end of his round. The tourney ended with a play-off between overnight leader Tiger Woods who shot 67 today, and Bob May who carded his third consecutive 66. It was Tiger who prevailed in the end, triumphing by a single shot in the three-hole play-off. Next week we're off to Firestone in Ohio where another big pay-day will be on offer in the WGC-NEC Invitational...
