Round 1 - Not the ideal start, with a careless putt and two misjudged chips costing me bogeys. Almost eagled the short 9th but had to make do with a tap-in for birdie. Almost holed my approach to the long par 4 12th, but sunk the 4-footer to get another shot back. Another careless putt cost me on #14, but a good approach on #15 got the shot back. An excellent tee shot on the par 3 17th saw me convert the 7-foot birdie putt which pulled me back to level par, only to see my par putt on #18 annoyingly lip out. Really like the course, and the greens are challenging - I think I might enjoy playing here this week, especially if I can cut out the silly errors...

Round 2 - A very mixed bag of a round. I expected problems with the green speed and I wasn't disappointed, and the pin positions made it even worse. In fact, I'm surprised I had so many birdies. Started well but never recovered from a water ball and subsequent 3-putt on the 4th. Ruined my round early but again too many mistakes prevented a half-decent score. I still think the course is a very good one, but I'm so glad pin 4 is out of the way!!

Round 3 - Managed to fend off the first bogey until the 5th, and wasn't playing too badly. Looked a lot more solid on the back, which turned out to be bogey-free and which produced two much-needed birdies. Enjoyed the round, always good to go under par...

I played all 4 rounds today. First two rounds not too bad; third round I just played poorly; last round I putted poorly, but this course is really not playable in these conditions. This is not a complaint aimed at the condition-setter. A good course design will permit all the available conditions to be playable. First hole: The fairway is not reachable with a driver with 20mph winds in your face (maybe with Master clubs). If you don't reach the fairway on this hole, you likely won't reach the green in regulation either. Last hole: This hole is not reachable in two with 20mph winds in your face (maybe with Master clubs). Any good design will start the fairway no more than 200 yards from the tee. Any good design will take into account the two longest shots in your bag in very high head winds, and not make the hole longer than this distance. A few too many double breaking putts on these greens, and quite a few blind shots. Other than these gripes, I enjoyed my rounds.
