Round 4 - After reading Charlie's post I decided to accompany him around Pebble for some entertainment, and I was not disappointed! It was almost reassuring to see the winner of two Majors this season struggle and made me realise that even the best of us have swing problems now and then. I had two Very Fasts - on the 5th it cost me two strokes, and on the 16th it cost me one. I was disappointed with my finish, and I don't think I sank one medium range putt. However, I was not too unhappy with my general play, and we battle onwards... I almost forgot - Charlie's tee-shot on the short 12th was something to behold. I suspect he planned it, although it may have seemed like a lucky bounce, but his ball ran on to the green and how it missed the cup I don't know!! Brilliant shot!

Thanks, Bob; in truth, I can't say the shot at twelve worked out exactly the way I drew it up. I did select the correct club, but it went further right in the wind than I was expecting, and that turned out to be a good place to land. The whole round was a struggle, like trying to keep a ship afloat in a storm. The seas were rough from the start, and did not improve until number six where I carved out a birdie; but I think the birdie at eight was the turning point. Eight is the toughest hole on the course for the pros and the average score there is well over par. That birdie got me back to even par, boosted my confidence, and gave me some breathing room so the bogey on nine did not rattle me. This is a wonderful course to play in these conditions. Ian played superbly.
