Round 1 - Had a very good front and was playing solidly. Then a bogey on #11 and a stupid one on #14 wiped out my hard work. But a great tee on #17 left me a 6-foot birdie putt, which I managed to convert, and then on #18 the icing on the cake was a chip-in birdie! More than happy with this round, even though I missed quite a few birdie putts...

Round 1 Soooo many putts left just short............. I lose interest in the game after a few, maybe I should do 9 holes then hit the clubhouse for awhile.

R1, probably my best round of the year....and the most frustrating. There is definitely some sort of bug in this game. I swung the club with perfect timing for 15 holes; came to the sixteenth and used exactly the same swing; got a very fast and ended up over by a fence, but I had a clear shot out of the dirt to the green and got up and down. Came to 18, hit a decent drive on the left side of the fairway. I'm 270 yards from the green with a quartering wind in my face. No way to get there so I decide to play safe and just aim for the fairway well right - 40 clicks right of the pin, make a perfect swing, perfect path and the ball darts left, hits the rocks and bounces into the water. I'm not aiming anywhere near those rocks; just trying to land in the fairway. Reload, aim even further right the second time; another perfect swing, same result. Reload, aim at the gallery on the right side of the hole, another perfect swing, barely catch the sand next to the rocks I've been hitting. Finish from there. It is frustrating when you know your swing timing is bad; but it is really frustrating when you get these shots with perfect timing. I need to go back and see if the fairway slopes severely left where I was after my tee shot; but I can generally tell without the grid whether I have severe slope that would affect the ball flight that much.

R2, pretty consistent again. No abnormalities this time around. I checked the fairway on 18; there is some slope but not significant. I'm convinced that the game periodically alters the expected result. I don't know if it is pre-programmed like in Perfect Golf (and I'm not edging or using any aids that would trigger that response), or if it is just a glitch. But unexpected results come from good swings too often. I'll quit complaining now ..... unless I have something else to complain about.

Round 2 - Very much enjoyed the challenge of this round. Two satisfying birds on a solid front were wiped out by a mid-round wobble, and then another dropped shot on #13 after an overhit approach had me hanging on. Had almost accepted my fate when I found the 18th green with my 1-iron second shot, then proceeded to drain a downhill 35-footer for a priceless eagle. Hope I enjoy the last two rounds as much...

R3, my third straight -5 round. My most consistent tournament, probably because I have putted so well. Saved a lot of pars in this one when I got out of position.

Round 3 - As the greens get faster my putting gets more suspect - as expected. Another wobble at the turn, slightly earlier this round, had me hanging on again. I was a little lucky on #17 when I had a Very Fast off the tee, but the wind just stopped my ball from disappearing into the ocean, and in the end I was happy with a dropped shot. The last round is going to be an interesting one with the putter for me...

Round four - 67 with a -4 in those conditions very happy / overall four rounds in the 60's at Pebble Very happy 67 63 65 67 for a 262 total Gross - I can't play any better than this I just wish more players played this tour, forget the handicap play against the course and the conditions - for shits and giggles I went and played one of the other societies shot 59 and 62 and was bored out of my mind, BUT this round I was on the edge of my chair that's what keeps me playing - if all you want is a trophy I will build you one - THIS IS THE BEST TOUR OUT THERE - PlayPgaTour "2000"

I agree completely Ian. I had decided before this round to play conservatively to protect the lead, to hit less club to avoid potential hazards, to play for par, etc. I unfortunately discovered that my timing today was so bad I could not keep the ball in play. I was in trouble the whole round, beginning on Hole 1 with a very fast swing that put me in the trees across the fairway. It was white knuckles from there on, and I had to grind and remind myself just take one shot at a time and make the best of it from here; don't try to make up for things with an overly aggressive shot. If I hadn't had a comfortable lead, this would have been even more "edge of the seat." So, while my worst score this tournament, it was probably my best round. I salvaged more wrecks than a junkyard. If you want some laughs, you should play my ghost and see all the places I visited. R4 attached.
