Round 2 - Yesterday's breeze was a little stronger for this round, but the greens were slightly slower from light overnight showers. Bob Fletcher performed better today, carding a reasonable 70, but was still anchored to the foot of the leaderboard. Fourteen pars helped Randy Grant to a commendable 68, a great effort considering Randy claimed to have spent most of his round in the rough. Ian McKinley had the rare honour of grabbing two eagles in his round, on the 10th and 13th, but dropped shots on the last two holes restricted him to a 70. Les Souter produced the best round of the day, a brilliant 65, even though his card included three bogeys. A fine front nine was followed by an ACE on the 12th, and Les is now tied 2nd, a single stroke off the lead. Can he bring his winless run to an end?!

Round 3 - As in Round 1, there was less wind today and the greens were fast, so good scoring was a possibility. After rounds of 80 and 76 Charlie Roberts finally found the right combination of clubs and swing rhythm, and the result was one of the best rounds of the day, a very impressive 65 that included a great eagle 2 on the 14th. Randy Grant battled gamely for a sub-par 70, while Bob Fletcher produced his steadiest play and, consequently, his lowest score of the week, an almost competent 69. Ian McKinley's level par 71 was his highest of the event, an indication of how difficult this course can be, even for the season's current leading money-winner. Going into this round Les Souter was tied second. At the end of it he was the outright leader, if only by a single stroke. After an indifferent, birdie-free front nine, Les eventually found some tweeters on the back and his second 68 of the tourney, together with his current great form, has now installed him as the favourite for the win - just one more round to negotiate...

Round 4 - There was hardly a breath of wind for this round, but the greens were like ice, treacherously fast, and rumours had already spread about the round-destroying pin position on the 16th green. Charlie Roberts stumbled his way in Biden-esque fashion to a 75 which left him in last place, but I have no doubt he will again be a force to be reckoned with once he sorts out his swing. Hans Kunok added a 78 to his previous rounds of 74, 67 and 76 to finish one stroke ahead of Charlie, while Bob Fletcher luckily managed a birdie on the frightening 16th on his way to a 68, his best effort of the week. Matching Bob's score was Randy Grant, his second 68 of the event, who narrowly missed out on a top 20 place but should be encouraged by his performance. Randy finished level with the consistent Ian McKinley who registered his second 69 of the tourney, and clinched the Spring Swing trophy in the process. Overnight leader Les Souter had played well all week, and he continued in that vein right up to the feared 16th hole. Les must have somehow upset the Golfing Gods because he walked off the green having completed the hole in 11 strokes, thereby leaving his winning aspirations in ruins for yet another week. The eventual winner was tour pro Tom Scherrer, who finished two shots clear of no less than five other pros.
