Round 1 - A very difficult course coupled with tough conditions saw all but one of the guest players really struggle today. Hans Kunok suffered the most, carding a disheartening 82, while Randy Grant, Les Souter, Ian McKinley and Bob Fletcher all posted painful 77's. On the other hand, Charlie Roberts put his impressive 67 down to good ball striking, good putting, and good course management. He will start the second round just one stroke shy of the leader, tour pro John Cook, but will he be able to maintain his good form?

Round 2 - As if things couldn't get any more difficult, the wind was blowing stronger for this round. Les suffered the worst, recording an 81, confirming that it will be another week without a trophy for him. Three guests actually improved on their opening day efforts - Randy Grant (74), Bob Fletcher(73) and Ian McKinley (70) all seemed to be slowly coming to grips with this deceptively tough track, but they remain anchored at the foot of the leaderboard with Les. Charlie Roberts' swing timing was not as good as it was in Round 1, and his scoring was adversely affected. However, although a 71 was not exactly what he was looking for, it was still a more than reasonable effort in the conditions, and it still leaves him only 5 strokes off the pace at halfway.

Round 3 - It looked like the high winds were not going to disappear anytime soon, so another torrid round was expected. Les Souter looked completely disinterested on his way to an 86 - and who could blame him? Bob Fletcher recorded his second 77 of the week, while even money-leader Ian McKinley suffered, posting a decidedly indifferent 76. Never mind guys, the ordeal is almost over!! Charlie Roberts went out with a different set of clubs today, and it turned out to be an inspired decision. What he lost in distance he gained in accuracy, and he was rewarded with the joint best score of the round, an impressive 65 which propelled Charlie into a share of third spot, just four strokes off the lead. Can he repeat the feat in the final round and walk away with the trophy?!

Round 4 - Yup, high winds again, but overnight rain meant slow greens. Les Souter (82), Randy Grant (80), Ian McKinley (78) and Bob Fletcher (73, his second of the tourney), all did not waste any time packing their suitcases and heading for Ohio after a traumatic week. Even the best of the guests, Charlie Roberts, struggled in with a 72 to finish a very creditable tied 13th. The winner was tour pro Phil Mickelson who surged through with the best round of the tournament, a superb 63, to claim victory by two strokes. Enough said - see you in Ohio for The Memorial Tournament, where the weather is forecast to be a lot more hospitable than it was at Colonial...
