3 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic

Round 4 - There wasn't a breath of wind today, so all the players had to tackle were the ultra-quick, bone dry greens. A major shock this week was Mark Lipping finishing rock bottom of the leaderboard after an uninspiring 77 today completed a woeful event for the 1970 top money-winner. Rich Urban (74) and Randy Grant (72) also struggled, while Bob Fletcher had his best round of the week, an almost competent 69 which will give him some encouragement for next week. Charlie Roberts' closing 68 saw him end up tied 33rd with the likes of Mark Calcavecchia, and Hans Kunok shot a brilliant 63 in an attempt to snatch the title away from the eventual winner, just falling short by 3 strokes and concluding the week in a tie for 4th with David Duval and two other professionals. Les Souter had given himself every chance of winning this week with some super golf over the first three rounds, but it looked like the preesure had got to him at the beginning of the final round when he dropped 3 shots in the first 4 holes! To his credit, he regained his composure but still left it late to surge past tour pro Rory Sabbatini, carding 3 birdies in the last 5 holes to shoot a 68 and claim victory by just 1 shot!!
