Round 1 - Boy, I don't remember Waialae playing this tough the last time I was here! Narrow, palm-tree lined fairways and difficult greens make a stiff challenge, and nearly every hole is a battle!! My best hole was the short 11th, where I had to play a fade off the tee due to a tree partially blocking my intended line. I guessed perfectly, even though it was my first fade for many weeks, and I was able to sink the short tricky putt for a great birdie. Felt a bit worn down by the end of the round, and dropped a couple more shots, but the really annoying thing about my round was the number of putts that I left hanging over the cup - AAAGGGHHHHH!! It's going to be a mentally exhausting week. Ian had already played his first round and he found this practice just as gruelling as his important round!

tight fairways did me in round 1 +8 over par out with 78.

Rich, it's a tough test for sure mate, and I think everyone will be suffering this week - but it's all good practice!

Round 2 - And I thought Round 1 was tough!! Well, all the damage happened on the front, most of it coming on the 5th hole. My swing timing was so erratic I was hitting the ball all over the course. No dropped shots on the back nine because my scrambling was very good after the turn. Be in no doubt - this course is "a bear" as Ian put it, and the weather today didn't help. On the positive side, it should get a little easier from this point on...

![]() I finished round 2 but have no hair left out with +2 over par 72 had a couple chips that fell in out of the traps good thing I don't have any teeth or I would'nt have any lips left either. |

R1 - started pretty well but the round got away from me on the back 9; missed fairways and greens and had some tricky putts; actually made some really good saving putts.  |

Rd 1 pretty brutal, after nice start, all over the place on the back, probably could've been worse, +3 73. Hopefully we'll face some decent scoring opportunities coming up, that was pretty tough.

Round 2 Very tough conditions wind was brutal but had a decent short game tonight and putter worked. Games improving slowly but surely. Onwards.  |

Hit the ball a bit better in R2 and made some valuable putts in precarious situations; difficult course to navigate without some bogies.  |
