OUR 'IN-HOUSE' HANDICAP SYSTEM
Handicaps calculated at the end of the current 1970 season will 'roll over' to the beginning of the new 2000 season starting on 22 November.
The actual calculation process will remain the same - because it has worked so well and does not need to be altered in any way.
The last 12 tour rounds are taken, and the WORST round score is discounted, leaving 11 rounds. An average is taken of those 11 rounds and that figure is then compared to a round par of 70. For example, if the 11-round average is 72.5, that is a difference of 2.5. Therefore that player's round handicap for the next tourney will be -3 (any difference of 0.5 and above is rounded up - any difference of 0.4 and below is rounded down).
It is that simple, and has been very effective in making every player competitive and capable of winning.
