Round 1 - If I'd remembered how difficult this course could be I would have made the conditions a little easier, but too late now! None of the 'guest' players could produce a sub-par round today, Carl Bishop carded a 76, Charlie Roberts and Ian McKinley had a pair of 74's, while Nate Arteezy and Bob Fletcher battled away for their 72's. With the opening day leader shooting 65, and with the weather forecast not promising, scores could get worse and a hard, grinding week beckons...

Round 2 - Charlie Roberts hit the joint best round of the day, an impressive 65, to muscle his way up the leaderboard and into a tie for 20th, just five shots behind the halfway leader. At the other end of the scale Ian McKinley carded another 74 to leave him firmly entrenched at the bottom, and I can only put his poor form down to ongoing health issues, but lots of kudos to Ian for continuing to play. Nate Arteezy played well today for his 69, and is now two strokes adfrift of Charlie, while Bob Fletcher also improved on his opening performance by carding a 70, leaving him a shot behind Nate and sharing 50th place. It's going to take a big effort from a guest player to deny a professional the win this week, but stranger things have happened at sea...

Round 3 - Gale force winds, driving rain, and a sodden course would provide a difficult challenge for our intrepid band of golfers today, so low scoring was not anticipated. This was confirmed when Ian McKinley trudged into the scorer's tent with a 77. Bob Fletcher was playing well until the 13th hole jumped up and bit him badly, and he eventually came home with a not-too-shabby 73 to leave him in a tie for 55th place. Nate Arteezy's round of 72 could easily have been much lower with a little more luck on the saturated greens. As it was, he will start the final round sharing 40th spot, two strokes ahead of Bob and ten behind the leader, Frank Beard, winner of the Tournament of Champions earlier in the season.

Round 4 - With the 'guest' players out of the picture, the winner was certain to be one of the PGA Tour professionals still in contention. Overnight leader Frank Beard fell by the wayside, carding a nightmare 76 to finish tied 16th. The eventual victor was Bruce Devlin, who fired a closing 64, the best round of the event. Mark Lipping was the best of the guests, his second successive 68 securing a share of 9th place. Nate Arteezy hit a 74 to end the week in a tie for 49th, while Bob Fletcher's lacklustre 76 was only good enough to grab a share of 66th spot. Ian McKinley signed off with a 74, his health problems unfortunately getting the better of him.
