Well the first quarter of the 1970 PGA Tour season is over and we are about to enjoy a 1-week gap before the second quarter begins. The question is 'who won the Winter Trophy for the most earnings over the first ten tournaments?' Les Souter was the hot favourite, having won the Bob Hope Chrysler Classic and the Tucson Open, but even though he finished in 2nd place in last week's Monsanto Open, he was just edged out by HANS KUNOK, who added the Monsanto Open title to the Andy Williams San Diego Open title he won earlier this season. Unfortunately for Les, both of Hans' tourney wins offered bigger prize money and that was the difference at the end of the day. So well done to Hans for winning the WINTER TROPHY, the margin being a slender $611. The season will recommence next week at the Greater Jacksonville Open, to be hosted by the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Florida.
