Can Ian McKinley make it a hat-trick of wins to start the 2017 season?

Rd one this is a tough track - extra large greens - I had many putts over 60 feet ( I mite add I never chipped once ) I had a 101 foot putt on I believe 17 that made it 1/2 way and rolled back off the green to 57 yards - watch that green - I refuse to chip on greens regardless of the length of putt - I would suggest that chippers beware. You can ghost my rounds anytime you like and you will not see me chip on greens, I have too much respect for the game. Happy with -6 and a very tough track.

Round 1 After reading Ian's report i thought i would take him round for some advice, however i didn't heed his warnings and i followed him to a 3 putt bogey on hole 7 after i had a great start, but pulled it back on next hole and again on 9 for a decent front side. Back 9 started great for the old coot and on 12 he made a great approach for his bird. My ball ran all the way past the pin and down to back of green which i was ecstatic to 2 putt. By the time we reached 17 i had forgot about his warning, must be old age and left myself a 120 foot putt uphill, i took a full swing with putter and it just managed to stay up on green but 44 feet short, another 3 stab but only just. 18 i took 2 wood off tee and got a fast which nearly ended up in someones garden, however i managed to get up and down for a closing bird. Very pleased with the round on this quite difficult course, however i think it will be easier if conditions improve. Onwards.

Round 1Enjoyed a good front nine in the early South African sunshine, but then an ugly 10th hole knocked me back. A 3-putt on #15 cost me another shot but finished positively with a bird on #18. The main problem was my ice-cold putter - but then I've always found very fast greens a challenge to say the least...

Round 2Again I played pretty well on the front, but I improved my play on the back compared to Round 1. My only errant drive of the round cost me a shot on #14, but I more than made up for it on the last two holes. I'm enjoying this course, even with greens the size of the Kalahari and Sahara deserts. A good challenge - for me anyway...

Round 2. Took FAP and the fatter one round with me today. Sleepy start first 5 then got a few tweeters going in next 8 holes then a snot with a stupid 3 putt from 7 feet bird on 15 got it back but an Albatross on 17 was the highlight of the round, i saved the shot in my favourites. Onwards.

Round 3A clean round, but a disappointing one. I seem to have a tendency to 'push' my putts which is not helpful - I missed a shedload of putts because of this fault, and I'm not sure how to solve the problem. I still enjoyed my solid round, almost holed out twice from the fairway for eagle, and my driving and approach play was again good. At least those two parts of my game are working fine now...

well by not paying attention and realizing it was raining (sigh) I left my slippers on instead of my rubber boots, I bogie first hole - after adjusting my glasses and actually looking at the conditions did pretty well on the next 16 holes - then like a dumb ass I drove the 18 green (which in these conditions is a lay up) well guess what a 96 foot putt uphill 4 feet on wet greens - sticking to my guns and refusing to chip on a green - I putted everything I had and never made the hill leaving myself a 65 foot birdie putt which of course I missed walking away with a tap in par. So walking off the green my caddy said to me you know you should have chipped WELL if any of you know where I can hire a new caddy, cause that SOB is probably still trying to get his fat ass out of the pond on 18.

Round 3 Took Danny around with me this round and he was steady most of the round, he tried to drive 18 and ended up in the aqua minerali left of the green. Poor play this round for me, im not a big fan of these moderate green speeds they are the most inconsistent on the game for speed and getting shooters. Finished strong which brings you back. Onwards.

Round 4Very good start but then my round stalled after 3 holes. Another pushed putt cost me a stroke on the 8th, but I got it back on the 17th. Enjoyed the course this week, but I don't think we'll get many more with fairways that wide.
